When you break us (and everything around us for that matter) down far enough for that matter, you get mostly energy. In fact, from what I understand science is having a harder and harder time finding anything we’d consider to be “actual” physical matter at all! This in part explains why well-energized electrons are being shown to be vital to so many processes in the body! For a really good deep dive on just how important electrons are, take a look at our article on the Budwig diet.

Now whether you believe that God created this world for us and to sustain life in every way imaginable, or that we all evolved with and have become dependent on the earth, either way the notion that our bare feet are literally charged by the ground (“grounding” or “earthing”) starts to make a lot of sense. The science is starting to bear this out as well: “Multi-disciplinary research has revealed that electrically conductive contact of the human body with the surface of the Earth (grounding or earthing) produces intriguing effects on physiology and health. Such effects relate to inflammation, immune responses, wound healing, and prevention and treatment of chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.” –

Earthing mats, pads, sheets, etc. use the ground in your home’s power outlets to conduct electrons into your body when touching them with your bare skin. This is one of many means we employ to build Ryder’s body up as much as we can, but since it’s as simple as lying his head on a mat when he sleeps, it’s a no-brainer! I also stand (yes, I said stand, not sit even though I’m at a computer or on the phone) on a universal mat while I work throughout the day, and Teddy and I have an earthing sheet that we sleep on with Channing so she gets the benefits too!!!!
